Typo Dance

“Typo Dance” was
a project as part of the “Human Space Machine” exhibition by the
Bauhaus Dessau Foundation at the Museum for Modern and
Contemporary Art Seoul. Hangeul, the Korean alphabet, developed
by King Sejong in 1443 and renewed by Ahn Sang Soo from 1985
onwards, is based on a basic geometry that represents the
abstract physiology of the oral cavity. The superimposition of
the floor geometries of the Bauhaus stage, which are related in
certain ways, makes the modern Korean typography danceable.
„Typo Dance“ war ein Projekt im Rahmen der
Ausstellung „Human Space Machine“ der Stiftung Bauhaus Dessau im
Museum for Modern and Contemporary Art Seoul. Hangeul, das
Koreanische Alphabet, 1443 federführend von König Sejong entwickelt
und ab 1985 von Ahn Sang Soo erneuert, basiert auf einer
Grundgeometrie, die die abstrahierte Physiologie des Mundraumes
darstellt. Die Überlagerung mit verwandt scheinenden Bodengeometrien
der Bauhausbühne lässt die moderne koreanische Typografie tanzbar
werden.

Installation 5x5 m
The room installation is part of a study on body, space and object perception. Formally, all accessible and usable components of the installation consist of the same shape - a white ball or a white circle, which however evoke different patterns of action and behavior by their size, material and arrangement - i.e. their constellation or contextualization, and yet they also show certain unexpected connections.
Die Rauminstallation ist Teil einer Studie zu Körper-, Raum- und Objekterfahrungen. Formal bestehen alle begeh- und benutzbaren Bestandteile der Installation aus der gleichen Form – einer weißen Kugel oder einem weißen Kreis – die aber durch ihre Konstellation, d.h. Größe, Material und Anordnung, unterschiedliche Verhaltensformen evozieren. Andererseits gleichen sich Handlungen aus sehr verschiedenen Kontexten formal an.

project from a consequently performative perspective under the
motto “The poetry of the functional”.
Die weiße Papierbühne steht symbolisch für einen
Versuch, ein komplexes, öffentliches Projekt konsequent
performativ unter dem Motto „Die Poesie des Funktionalen“ zu
denken und durchzuführen.
